According to Meyers gazetteer...

There are 5 listings for places called 'Staw'...

Staw (#1) noble's estate of 267 persons, Kreis Wreschen, Posen.
Civil reg. office in 'Stralkowo' (about 3 km away, a little south of due east).
It had it's own Catholic church.

It was about 14 km due east of the town of Wreschen, and was southeast of
Gnesen ("Archidiecezia Gnieznienska")

Hope this helps,
James
A Montanan in Dallas
