Subject: [POSEN-L] Seeking info on towns of Polnisch Kruschin and Splittkrug
Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 07:43:45 -0500 (EST)

I would like to ask if anyone can tell me anything about the towns of
Splittkrug and Polnisch Kruschin, both of which must have been very close
to Bromberg.

According to baptismal records from Bromberg for 1860, my
grandmother, Auguste Florentine Ziemke, was baptized on August 17, 1860
(two days after her birth in Polnisch Kruschin). Her brother, Emil Gustav
Ziemke, was baptized in Bromberg on October 6, 1862 (born on Sept. 29 in
Splittkrug). Her sister, Ottilie Pauline Ziemke, was baptized on October
29, 1865 (born October 6 in Splittkrug).

I can't find either Polnisch Kruschin or Splittkrug on old maps of Posen,
but I have been told that Polnisch Kruschin may be the present town of
Kruszyn, immediately west of Bydgoszcz/Bromberg.

Thanks for any help.
