Subject: [POSEN-L] Where do I go from here? Posen towns
Date: Fri, 2 Apr 1999 13:17:49 EST
Hello,
I am new to the list because someone found information for me about where my
gggrandprents came from in Posen.
I have information that my gggrandfather was from Gembitz,
his wife was born in Budzyn (assume this is Budsin?). They were married, and
4 of their children were born in Jankendorf, before they immigrated to
Minnesota sometime between 1870 and 1876.
How do I go about getting records for these events? I do not know where in
the former Prussian empire these towns were and I don't know how to start
looking for the records.
I guess I need to first locate the town, are there any maps online that might
tell me where they are located?
I am disabled and can not get out as much as I would like, so if I can find
the information online it would be easiest for me at this point.
Our local FHC is not handicap friendly so I find I can not use it.
Any suggestions welcome.
