Dear Reiner,
The names Lueck and Koegg caught my attention. Recently I looked at
the 1718 Classification of the Neumark. Since I have some Lueck
ancestors from Kreis Wirsitz, and I suspect that the family came from
the Neumark, I paid particular attention to that name. I was surprised
at how many time the name appeared. The name Lueck appeared in no less
than 12 villages in Kreis Arnswalde and several villages in Kreis
Dramburg. The film I looked at for this census was:
LDS Film # 1573057 1718/19 Klassification of the Neumark
Schwarz, Paul: Die Klassification von 1718/19.
Teil II. (Die Neumark H.4)
I believe I saw the name Koegg there as well. I seem to remember it due to
its, to my mind anyway, unusual spelling.
Also, as a follow-up to the 1718 Classiafication, I took a look at
Ost's book which covers many of the same Kreise and compares the Hufen
Register from 1572 and 1588 to Schwarz's work. I believe the names
Lueck and Koegg appear there as well.
Besides the lists of names, both fo the books listed above do tell alot
about the social conditions in the Neumark. It seems that conditions
there were extremely harsh -- much harsher than elsewhere in German
lands. The nobility had reduced the farmers to little more than
pesants and the soil there was not good. When the nobility tried to
extract more rent or service from the farmers, they often abandoned
their farms and moved to "free Poland". This explains the occurrence
of many of these Neumark names in Posen. Some notes from Ost's book
below.
While these books may not help you with your own direct ancestors, they
may be of intrest for what they tell about the palce they lived.

This book draws on the Hufen Register from 1572 and 1588 to provide an
insight into the "zweite deutsche Ostsiedlung in Drage und Kueddow
Gebeit". These Registers pertain to the Neumark and give a lists of
farmers and their land holdings for the Neumark Kreise of Dramburg,
Schivelbein, Soldin, Arnswalde etc. The farms and names of the Adel
are also given. Ost compares these older Registers to the data put
together from the 1718 Classification by Paul Schwarz.
In the 16 years between 1572 and 1588 many farmers deserted their
farms in the Neumark and headed for "freies Poland". The Ursache des
Entlaufen der Bauern uebermaessigen Steigerung der Dienste.
This flight from the land was again seen in the 19th C. where
industrialization ran in parrallel to a devastating depopulation of
the ostelbisch Deutschland.

the Herrschaft could ruin them financially. 2) Entzug der Huetung --
The Herrschaft owned the Wald und Wiesen -- unlike elsewhere in Germany
where the peasantry had specified rights in the Neumark the Herrschaft
owned them completely.
