I've been receiving posts from this list for a week or so. I have
learned so much and have been astounded by the generosity, patience
that I thought it was time to jump in.
A distant relative tells me that "In a Posen cemetery are buried
Christian HABERMANN, born, 1794, died 13 Nov 1857 along with his wife,
Dorothea HABERMANN nee ZIMMERMANN, born 1798, died 29 Jul 1860"
Their children were:
Robert, was born in "Prussia" in 1825.
My great great grandfather, Gottlieb Julius HABERMANN, born 30 Jul 1827,
came to Texas aboard the ship Franklinwhich departed Hamburg 3 April
1853 and arrived at the ports of Galveston and Indianola, TX 31 May
1852. The reference says he was from Schlepuchowa, Saxony, GER.
Ulrike, was allegedly born 26 Aug 1829 in Neu Dresden, Brandenberg, GER
Wilhelm, born 1832 in Prussia
August, born 1837 in Prussia. All came to Texas and lived and died
there, except August, who was killed in New Mexico during the Civil War.
I am woefully ignorant of the geography and history of this area of the
world and I would appreciate ANY help, advice or enlightenment on
finding information these families and their lives and times.
Thanks in advance!
