Dear Burkhard,
To be precise, former German name of Inowroclaw, paralell to the Polish one, was "Inowrazlaw". The name "Hohensalza" was given officially in the late 19-th century and used til the end of WW2. As I have heard, the citizens of the town (no matter which nation - German or Polish) was rather angry and did not use the new name in everyday speaking. Also German local press (if I remember well I saw it in "Posener Tageblatt") was rather amused of that "political correctness" of town administration.
Gruesse
Robert
