I don't know if this followed true in the old country. My grandmother was
Lutheran and my grandfather was catholic. Their daughters were lutheran and
their sons were catholic (they had 11 children). I have had to research in
both religions to find the records for the 11 children.

it doesn't seem to be a matter of the family relocating to another village.

Lobsens, Wirsitz, Grabau, Nakel). Why, then, wouldn't the child be taken to
his "own" church???

am assuming that the birth record may be in another parish book . . . but
which one? Does one have to search in every parish within a 20-mile radius?
Is there any method to this madness?
