An interesting subject. My own research only shows that at one stage the
army marched through Schneidemühl and demanded quarters from the locals.
And on the same subject I was told by an 89-year-old person from
Schneidemühl that his grandmother used to say "Rather the French as enemies
than the Russians as friends."
