Perhaps, you can help me with a problem in Posen, too. Julius KAUTZ came to Washington County, Wisconsin before 1859. His passport says that he was from Mietlica in Kreis Strzelno. Can you give me any information about, where I might find records for him? He knew something about the brewing of beer, but we are not sure, if he was one by profession before he left Posen. He was born in Venetia and christened in the Catholic Church there. Are there any records for Mietlica that we can write to an archive for? In the church records in Wisconsin we found an entry for the christening of a child for Gottlieb KAUTZ, whom we believe is his brother.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
