The time you are talking about is very significant. It is the time when a
lot of colonists came to the area from different other countries. The name
sounds quiet German - so you think of west of Posen, but it is also possible
he came from the Danzig (Gdansk) area. There are lists of colonists in the
Geheimes Preussisches Staatsarchiv. You could try to get exess to it.
