Not of the income, but of the income tax - which is quite a difference.

Where is a there stigma? It is a small thing to go to the office and
declare no longer to be a member of a church. This applies to about 20 %
of the people here in Germany. If you prefer to stay with the church you
pay the church tax. This is not a big issue, and nobody else knows - or
cares - about.
