I have searched Ellis Island records, ancestry.com, other Internet sites, and
Germans to America. I cannot find a record for my ancestors' immigration to
the United States in 1893. I am certain of the year 1893 because of the 1900 US
census, Lobsens Parish records showing a birth in Sch"onrode/
Kruske/Kruschke, Kries Wirsitz in Feb 1892. Then the next birth in Minnesota in DEC 1893. In
addition, an older descendant states that her father immigrated after the
family at age 6.
My search covered years 1891 - 1894 and with various spellings. Could I have
missed something? Probably.
It is my understanding that in order to immigrate, the Prussian authorities
must issue a "travel pass", a passport, and a visa. Where and how do I obtain
this info?
The names are:
Wilhelm Julius Nitz (b1861)
Justine/Augusta (Schwanke) Nitz (b1862)
Emil Wilhelm Nitz (b1887) (Came at age 8 after family)
Ernest/Ernst Julius Nitz (b1889)
Paul Rudolph Nitz (b1892)
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Frank Neitz of Oregon
