I read once that most Poles did not celebrate their birthday, but their
"saint's day", the feast day of the saint whose name they have.
I haven't followed this thread closely, but this might be a reason for a
small discrepancy in a birth date.

Presumably the draft registration card was filled out by the registrant
himself. Therefore the information would be as accurate as the registrant's
personal knowledge. It is possible during that time period, that some people
did not know their exact birth date, since records were not yet universally
kept. The other possibility is that he lied about his age either to avoid or
accelerate being called to service.
