I did a Soundex search for Leo Baranowski, born in Michigan. Results as

Subject: [POSEN] lookup request
If anyone has access to Ancestry.com and wouldn't mind doing me a quick
favor, I am trying to find my grandfather in 1920 US census. He should
have been in either Michigan or Illinois, or there is an odd chance he may
have been as far afield as Montana. His particulars are:
Leo Baranowski (alt. spellings inc: Barnosky, -i; Baranosky, -i;
Baronowsky,-i; [you get the picture :-)] He was born in Michigan in 1899
or 1900. He was single in 1920. Both of his parents were Polish, put I
don't know if their birthplace would be listed as Poland, Germany, or
Prussia. His birth record has his name as Leon, although it should have
been Leo.
Thanks so much,
Kathy
