Subject: Cell phones in Poland

For those who might be considering traveling to Poland, you might want to
consider your cell phone options.
First, you will need a phone that uses GSM. Most new phones in the US are,
but most old / low end phones aren't.
It should also be a "tri-band" GSM, so it will work with the European GSM.
Second, you must buy a SIM card for Europe and you can get them with
minutes prepaid.
One of our former subscribers has some Polish prepay SIM cards for sale. I
cannot vouch for anything, but include his offer below.

I sell (mainly on German eBay) are Polish prepay ("pay as you go") SIM
cards. They're quite cheap (starting from 4.49). You need just to put such
a card into your GSM phone and when staying in Poland, you:
a) have your own personal Polish phone number,
b) can communicate cheaply (about 0.20/min.) with phones based in Poland,
c) can call abroad for reasonable rates (about 0.50/min. to Europe, about
1/min. to the USA - it's not the cheapest solution in Poland, but cellular
service is pretty easiest to use),
d) can receive calls and texts from the whole world for free.
I think my cards are really useful for those who go to Poland and want to
stay in touch with their family or have an easy way to contact within the
country. I would like also to mention that you can find such card on
American eBay for some mad prices like $60. The prices are similarly in
many store on the web. I'm not this kind of offriper.
I live in Poznan (Posen) and use such service myself.

Zbigniew Gutkiewicz
