Larysa:

The information Dewey sent you is accurate, but you should be aware that
usually when a person said they were from a place, such as Bomst, they
were referring to the powiat (in German, kreis) and not the actual
village or town. There were 303 (approximate) villages in Kreis Bomst,
and probably 50 or so Roman Catholic parishes. (That last is a
"guess-timate"). There are also civil records microfilmed from the area
which the LDS has.

You should check out the parish records there in Australia. The two
daughters obviously had children, and their baptismal records should be
checked to see if the parents' birth/baptism places are listed. Many
here in the U.S. do have that information, so I would expect a similar
record keeping system existed in Australia.

Also, you might check to see if the ship's manifest is available there
in Australia.
Sometimes the manifests showed the last town of residence and/or the
birthplace, and although I don't hold much hope for a manifest that far
back, sometimes one gets lucky!

Finally, you should be aware that the surname has probably been
Anglicized. Szymanski is the most likely original spelling.

Good luck to you,

Diana Grzelak Needham
