I found my ancestor's occupation was recorded as a Vilici or Villicus (Latin). From a Latin dictionary I find the definition of a steward or overseer pertaining to an estate.

My ancestor lived in Konarzewo which has both a town and an estate.

Any more details/information on this occupation? Was it easy or hard to become this? What did it involve?
