Brian: Welcome to our list. I'm sure you'll gather a lot of information
here. I think you are correct regarding Zlotkowo.
You didn't mention the religion of the family. If they were Roman
Catholic, the parish was in Sobota, and the LDS has films going quite
far back. If they were Evangelische, the parish was Kreuzkirche and they
have films dating back to 1596. If you try to locate Kreuzkirche on the
place search engine on the LDS Family Catalog on line, you won't find
it. Search for Posen and click on the entry that says, Germany, Prussen,
Posen, Posen.
Then click on the "Church Records" link. Kreuzkirche should be the first
entry on the page. There are also civil records, but they were not kept
until 1874, so your family had already emigrated by that time.
