G'day listers,

Hoping that someone out there will be able to assist or give me some ideas.

My gggrandfather was from Zlot Kowo (north north west of Posen, now it would
almost be an outer suburb of Posen/Poznan)

From the information that I have located the family consisting of himself ,
wife and 2 children (aged 8 & 5 approximately) sailed from Bremen in July
1858 and arrived in Botany Bay Australian on the 18 December 1858.

My questions are as follows:

1) What was the most likely method of travel they would have used from Zlot
Kowo to Bremen?

2) What would have been the most likely route?

3) How much would it have cost?

4) How long would it have taken to travel this land distance?

Lastly does anyone know a site where one might find a story of trials and
tribulations that they might have encountered both on the overland travel
and also on the vessel.

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards from the great land down under,

Brian
