Thanks to Uwe, Dieter, Diana & Jay for directing me to Chrustowo as the correct birthplace for our ancestor Stanislaus Brustmann who was born there in 1833. Good news - I was contacted by a Brustmann relative who now resides in Delitizch. Apparently, most of our Brustmann ancestors left the Posen area around 1919 (when I suspect this area was returned to the government of Poland at the end of World War I). Was there fear of retaliation or mistreatment after the war ? Was there a massive movement of German citizens out of Posen back within Germany's post-WWI boundaries ? Bruce J of Maplewood.
