Hello
As an Aussie, I'm not familiar with the Huntley & Palmer business.
However, your message caught my eye. I am researching POULTONs from
Essex. James POULTON, a Cabinetmaker, married Elizabeth PALMER at
Chelmsford in 1842. They emigrated to NSW in 1856, & several subsequent
generations worked for Arnotts' Biscuit Company. Our family legend said
that the Poultons owned a 'Biscuit Factory' in England but my research
found that Elizabeth PALMER's father Thomas, was a Baker & Confectioner
in Moulsham. Thomas PALMER died in 1842 leaving his business in charge
of his second wife, Hannah, with the proviso that she continue to employ
his sons John & George from his first marriage. The last record I have
of the business is in the 1845 PO Directory for the Home Counties there
is a Mrs Hannah Palmer, baker, Moulsham.

Your message mentions Reading, Manchester as the location of Huntley &
Palmer. Is this all just a co-incidence?
