I, too, am in Australia....3337 West Melton. I am a New Zealander living here since January 1979. I have four grandsons who are of Koorie descent too. If you are carrying the surname of POWER might I suggest you do your Y-DNA with our group.....assuming you are male. If not maybe you have a brother who is a POWER? I have traced my ancestry back to Waterford, Ireland where my ancestor was Mathew POWER (Master Mariner, and born in about 1787. I now have quite a few participants who have had the exact same ancestor, sometime after 1066AD. Two are from Northern Germany whilst all the others appear to have come from Waterford, Ireland. Of course they are all now Americans. If you can talk your relatives into helping you to do your Y-DNA it will cost you a total of $US99.00 plus $US6.00 postage for the Test Kit. This is only the 12 marker but will give you an idea what your Y-DNA haplogroup is. If you went it alone the cost would be $US149.00 so there is a bit of a discount there.!
Later you would need to update to the 25 marker for a discounted price of $US49.00 and then you start finding your cousins if they are on the various DNA sites. We now have over 90 participants.
