Hi Dave
There is a Ty'n-y-waen 2.7 miles NNW of Cerrigydrudion village (grid
reference SH 917 509) and 0.5 mile from the A5.
Ty'n = abbreviated form of Tyddyn (small farm or small-holding)
y = the, of the
(g)waen or (g)waun = moor, mountain pasture
I suspect that Llan Cerrig simply refers to Cerrigydrudion village (where
Llan means village). Locals past and present would refer to Cerrigydrudion
simply as Cerrig or Llan Cerrig.
