Hello Everyone,
I am looking to make contact with some relatives, from powys.I know it's difficult because the families are named "Owen" and "Jones"
John Jones b.1768-1769 at St.Harmon/ died-26-July-1832,at "Dolewen".
Ann Jones, 70 years old on the 1841 St. Harmon census & listed as owner of Dolewen.
Also listed-Evan Owen-25-farmer, Mary Owen,25- John Owen-1yr.
Dolewen was a "T y Nos" located in Radnorshire, formerly on the property of "Cilrhye".
John Jones is buried at St. Harmon, but I would like to locate Ann Jones's grave.
My Gr.Great grandmother was Mary Owen, formerly a "Jones",most likly daughter of Ann Jones. Her first husband, Evan Owen, died 12-Jan.1843 at Dolewen. She then married a second time to an Abraham Owens, from Dolelve..on 23-April-1844 at St. Harmon Parish.
Mary had one son..John Edward, from first marriage. She had two sons from her second marriage, Edward B.and David Owens. Abraham Owens died 17-Aug 1859 at Nantoer.
Abraham Owens had a first marriage to a Jane Owens, had at least one son, Thomas-B.16-Oct.1821.
Mary and her three sons emmigrated to Albany, Wisconsin-usa, in 1860.
My gr.great grandfather Evan Owen, was born at "Pantdrain" on 22-May-1814, where his father..(also Evan) worked as a laborer.
Evan Owen sr. died at tyny-coed on 9-July-1860.
I am desperatly wanting to make contact with some distant cousins, because we are coming over for a visit to the Llangurig-St. Harmon area this next fall.
I forgot to mention my "owen" side were from Llangurig in montgomeryshire.
I would appreciate any help I might get! I really love the powys roots web, it's a great site.
Take Care!
