Derwen (the parish in the vale of Clwyd) had no coal mines although many
people worked in local quarries. There was a small quarry called Cam Pwll in
the parish, also many people from Derwen worked in Craig Lelo which is in
the nearby parish of Gwyddelwern. Apparently there were once lead mines
where Glyn Bach farm now is. Farming was the other major employer.
