Hello J Powell
I'm descended from a Powell family who lived in Ystradgynlais in the SW
corner of Breconshire in the late 1700s and early 1800s, although I don't
have a John Powell born 1801. Powell is quite a common surname in all of
Wales. Do you know where in Breconshire your John came from?

I do have a John Powell, born 1832 who emigrated to the USA in 1855. He
was a minister in the Welsh Independant Church and ended up in California
in the 1870s. Then we lose track of him.

Breconshire was never ever in England and every Welsh person who read
your email will be mortified - it's like saying that Canada is part of
the USA.
