Further to other replies, the computerisation of the 1901 census is out
to tender at the moment. It will be available in January 2002 but I
understand that the precise form it will take is yet to be established.
Whatever happens, it seems that it will be available to all-comers for a
fee which will help to recuperate the set-up costs, but whether it will
be so-much per look-up, or a subscription or a set of CD's is anybody's
guess at this time.

I only know this because a friend of mine is currently putting together
his company's bid for this monster task.
