Dear Mr Henrywood,
Whilst I can't comment directly on the Earl
of Radnor estates ( a title totally new to me and certainly nothing to do
with my home county per se), I can say that most estate staff such as
gamekeeper's were invariably english in extraction and taken from the native
are of the land owner in question. An example would be the Watt estates of
Doldowlod in Radnorshire where all of the gamekeeper's were initially fron
Watt's native Scotland and later from the English midlands where he held
another seat.
If the gamekeeper was not a "local" then it was felt that he would be less
corruptible than local stock.

Best wishes,

Richard
