Re: 1871 Census Montgomeryshire
Dear Mary Paton
The EVANS family was in Tregynon in the 1871 census
Edward EVANS head M 29 farmer born Kerry, Montgomeryshire
Mary EVANS wife M 20 (sic) born Kerry, Montgomeryshire
Mary Ann EVANS dau 7 born Kerry, Montgomeryshire
Matilda EVANS dau 5 born Llanllwchaiarn, Montgomeryshire
John Edward EVANS son 3 born Llanllwchaiarn, Montgomeryshire
Elizabeth EVANS dau 1 born Tregynon, Montgomeryshire
I cannot find a 'Gaigos' in Llanllwchaiarn in the 19C. What are the (say)
three residences recorded immediately prior and subsequent to 'Gaigos' in
the 1881 census and, if possible, the name of the township? What was
recorded as Edward Evans' occupation at that time? The answers to these
questions may lead us to 'Gaigos'.

Re: pre 1881 census for Newtown
Dear Jean Spence
In 1861 census, the JONES family was at Kinsey's Yard, Newtown, Montgomeryshire
(this yard was situated off Back Lane)
Robert JONES head M 40 Journeyman shoemaker born Caernarvon, Caernarvonshire
Martha JONES wife M 36 born Carno, Montgomeryshire
John JONES son 13 shoemaker born Merthyr, Glamorganshire
Robert JONES son 11 scholar born Carno, Montgomeryshire
Elizabeth JONES dau 5 born Carno, Montgomeryshire
William JONES son 2 born Tregynon, Montgomeryshire
In the 1891 census, Elizabeth is at 2 Bakehouse Yard, Llanllwchaiarn, where
her place of birth is given as Caersws (that is in the parish of Llanwnog).
