Dear Dick Jones & David Peate
I recently joined the list and have received a message referring to
Pant-y-briallu, which rang a bell with me. The message referred to the 71
census but the part quoting the census I didn't receive. I am interested in
this farm because in 1841 it was occupied by Edward Stephens who was a
witness at the marriage of my great-great grandparents Elizabeth Jones and
John Owens in Castle Caereinion in 1849. I think he may have been
Elizabeth's employer. Her place of residence at the time of the marriage is
given as Byrwydd, which I believe is near to Pantybriallau (as the 41 census
spells it).On the 41 census there are three Jones MS who may have been
Elizabeth's brothers: Edward 20, Richard 10, Francis 10.
Please could you let me know whether the farm was still in the Stephens
family in 1871. My previous email asking for a sighting of John Owen(s) in
41 in this area has not brought any replies yet, but I live in hope as I have
had several recent breakthroughs with other branches. (I shall have to
unsubscribe for a while from 20 May as I shall be away for several weeks. If
you or other listers have any replies, please could you post them soon? )
Many thanks
Rut
