Hello....
I realise this query may be a bit out of the area of geneology, but I am
hoping you can help me find some information regarding a Royal Canadian Air
Force bomber that crashed on May 16th, 1945 at an airstrip somewhere in the
Anglesey region after a recon mission following the end of the war in
Europe.

My Uncle was on that plane, and died, tragically, after having made it
through the war unscathed. His name was F/Sgt. Samuel Robert Bruce DOUGLAS,
RCAF. Apparently, his plane was attempting to land after a mission and
missed the landing strip due to heavy fog and the fact that the fires were
not lit in the barrels along the runway that night.

F/Sgt DOUGLAS was interred at the RAF section in Chester (Blacon) Cemetery,
Section A, Grave # 977.

I had thought that perhaps your detective skills might be able to find some
information regarding this crash, such as the Group or Squadron my Uncle Bob
was with, and perhaps the names of the other casualties or survivors, in the
hope that perhaps the survivors may still be alive and able to tell me what
it was like to serve with this hero of mine that I never got to meet.

If you can help in any way, I would be very grateful.

Most Sincerely, John W.P. Douglas
