Subject: [POWYS] Meridith Price b. 1644

I have been trying to trace the ancestors of my Virginia ancestor Meridith
Price who was born in 1644 and emigrated from Bristol to Virginia in 1665.
My data shows him to be born in Bristol, but I have no evidence of that from
my inquiry to Bristol and Gloucester mailing lists. I suspect that he may
have been born not in Bristol, but in Wales.
Also the experts tell me that:
1. Meridith is more commonly found as Meredith.
2. At the time of his birth, most Welsh families didn't have
fixed surnames, but used the patronymic system.
3. His Welsh name could have been Meredith ap Rees or ap Rhys
which became Price when he
moved to England.
Any help finding the roots of my Virginia ancestor in Wales would be greately
appreciated. It has become a "brick wall" which I have not been able to
scale in my family research.
