Hi Rocky,

Do you have some reason to connect Wm. P. Bonsall to one
of the counties that make up modern Powys?

The 1881 census lists 627 Bonsalls, of which 303 were born
in Derbyshire, and certainly I have always regarded it as a
Derbyshire name. I think it has a connection with the hamlet
of Bonsall (SK 2758) - about 2 miles south west of the town
of Matlock - and many of the Bonsalls listed in the 1881 were
born within 20 miles of there.

Regards, John Evans
