For Gwen I have to check two fiche, confirm the husband' reference, and then
check the same quarter for the wife with the same reference.
You have said yourself:

The bmd's are divided into quarters for each year and alpabetical order for
each quarter - partners names were not added until 1911 - so a researcher
has to write down all the references for the groom and then check the
bride's name to see if any match.
When I wanted to narrow it down, I had hoped you could give me at least the
references for the possibles to
save me having to hand record all the grooms and then check for all the
Griffiths.
