Dear Dennis and list,
Sorry so late at posting this. I was awaiting details of Merthyr branch
of Glamorgan Family History Society today (Thursday)
Richard Trevithick Day will be held at Merthyr Tydfil this coming
weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Our Gwent Sales Desk and also Glamorgan
FHS Help desk (not sure if Powys FHS at present) will be there from 10pm
till 4pm. Details:-

Trevithick Heritage Festival
Sunday 4th July 2004
11am to 5.30pm approx.
The Festival is to be held in the Merthyr Tydfil town centre and at the
Trevithick Visitor Centre a short walk from the centre of town. For the
first time ever, the 1801 Camborne road car, the 1803 London road
carriage and 1804 "Penydarren" Trevithick replicas are scheduled to
appear together (at the Visitor Centre). Also scheduled to be on display
are the 1833 Hancock’s steam carriage replica and the 1875 Grenville
steam carriage (at the Bus Station).
ENTRY IS FREE! (Charges apply for funfair rides etc)
Events and Exhibits include:
Steam traction engines on display and in steam (Bus Station)
Display of steam cars by Steam Car Club of Great Britain (Town Centre,
Castle Yard car park)
Preserved buses (Bus Station)
Miniature Railway
Fairground Rides (in front of Magistrates’ Court)
Professional Street Entertainers (around the town centre)
Entertainment by (so far):
Dowlais Male Voice Choir
Merthyr Ladies Choir
Salvation Army Band
Ysgol Santes Tudful
Edwardsville Primary School
Siwsann George
Allan Yn Y Fan
Dic Powell danswrs
A free shuttle bus service will operate at least every 30 minutes
linking the Bus Station, Cyfarthfa Park (for Castle and Museum) and the
Trevithick Visitor Centre.
Important Note:
There is No Car Parking on this day at the Trevithick Visitor Centre to
allow steaming of the two Trevithick road carriages and in the interests
of public safety. Please park in the free town centre car parks and
either walk from the town centre (10 mins) or catch the free bus
service.
