Hi Barrie, Dennis, Lizzie & friends,
I've been away travelling with visitors for a couple of weeks since about
the time the Powys list disappeared into digital dust.
I see Barrie is looking for a couple of Trefeglwys neighbourhood people who
had also been travelling:
in 1861:
ASHTON THOMAS HD M 44 LINEN & WOOLLEN DRAPER MGY TREFEGLWYS (c1817)
in 1851:
Edward Ashton h m 45 marine store Llanddynawr?, MGY
(b.about 1806)

I took a quick search in my family tree index for Thomas ASHTONs and only
found five, none of them born around 1817.
There was Thomas b.1797 to John Ashton 1743-1834 & Elizabeth Savage
1745-1818. This one might have married a Jane Owen by banns Trefeglwys
18Nov1818 - Bill Barker CD.
There was Thomas b.c.1798 to Valentine Ashton 1773-1845 & Martha Jerman
1777-1855. This one married Martha Lewis of Aberhafesp? in Llanfair
Caereinion 12Nov1826?
Unfortunately I don't have any children listed for them.
I have 20 Edward Ashtons indexed but the most promising is:
Edward b. July 1806 to Valentine Ashton 1773-1845 & Martha Jerman 1777-1855
who married Elizabeth Jones about 1827? And farmed Maesyblawd farm,
Trefeglwys according to genealogist Vera Jones, of Oakley Park - near
Llandinam. I think this might be the person to ask.
Interestingly, this Edward's eighth child was Thomas but born too late to
be yours.
I know there were some Ashtons from Llandinam but I'll have to hunt &
peck because I can't search the tree by location.
Cheers, Tony in White Rock, BC.
