Hi again Andrew,
Inspired by Vic Roberts' reminder to use North Wales BMD at
<http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk>;
I located their Search: Births page at
<http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/cgi/birthind.cgi?county=northwales>;
I selected a date range of 1865 to 1875 and all three regions of Powys, then
I put Ashton into the surname search field and there I saw, registered in 1865:
ASHTON Daniel
Sub-district : Llanidloes Lower
Registers at : Powys-Newtown
Register Office Reference Number : LLANIDL/08/25
This Daniel Ashton is probably your g-grandparents' neighbout & witness.
I wonder if anyone can identify "Llanidloes Lower" as compared to "-Upper"?
It would be good to know the boundaries of the registration sub-districts
on a modern map.
Someone was recently looking for the ASHTONs of Clatter
- and someone else for ASHTONs of Llandinam.
Best wishes, Tony
