Subject: my research notes online

Dear all,
I've decided to document my research (as a form of notes) via a blog.
My family history blog is here, should anyone be interested:
http://www.alisonbryan.com/notes
This is primarily for my own purposes - an open electronic notepad.
My full reasoning is on this blog. The families I am researching are
in the right hand column. If you have any pointers please feel free
to use the comments feature.
I don't know if anyone else has used a blog as a method of notetaking
when doing research? If so, I would be interested in hearing other
people's experiences and whether it worked for them.
I understand the limits of a blog, and the need to organise
information in a more ordered manner, and to this end I will probably
make use of a wiki. I just wondered if there was any software
available which allows you to publish your family tree online? I
don't mean trees at places like GenesReunited, but some code / a
database that can be published on your own website.
Many thanks
Alison
