Hi Sue,
My GGGrandmother was Anne Davies, nee Winter, from Crickadarn, BRE. She had
a niece called Elizabeth Winter, who married a Maddy. I believe that she
lived in Sheffield and her Maddy descendents are still there. You will find
her in the 1861 Breconshire census in Battle Village with her Aunt (my
GGGrandmother and my GGrandmother,
"Brecon Enumeration District: RG9:4211, Sub-District of Brecon, Battle
Village.
Davies, David,h,m,58,schoolmaster,BRE Llanynis,Battle Village,/f13/p2
Davies, Anne,w,m,39,,BRE Crickadarn,Battle Village,/f13/p2
Davies, Anne,d,u,10,scholar,BRE Battle,Battle Village,/f13/p2
Winter,Elizabeth,ni,,3,BRE Crickadarn,Battle Village,/f13/p2"
(Info taken from PFHS Surname Transcription CD for BRE 1861 Census)
Hope this is useful. Perhaps we are related through marriage!! Let me know
how you get on, please.
Kind regards,
Hilary

Subject: [POWYS] Relatives of Maddy
Dear All,
Are there any Powys researches who have family who married a Maddy during
the 1700-1800's?
There must be some somewhere as our family married into several different
families over the centuries.
Best wishes
Sue in Suffolk
