Resending this as I omitted subject last time.
Hello Ruth,
In which part of the UK did you find Mary Anne in 1871? What
county is given as her place of birth?

I am researching STEPHENS, and have found my grandfather's aunt in the
1871 UK Census. Her name was Mary Anne STEPHENS (nee WILLIAMS), and in
the census her age is given as 60, and her birth place as South Wales
Elyrs Nay.
Family legend connects the family with Bettws-y-Coed, and a farm in
Clyro in Radnorshire. At first I thought the "Elyrs" might be a badly
transcribed "Clyro", but looking at the written census record online it
seems to be quite clearly "Elyrs".
Where is "Elyrs Nay", please, and is or was there a Bettws-y-Coed in
Radnorshire?
