The Johnson and Smith names both connect to group 11 in early times. My
Abel's (born abt. 1750; died 1819 AL). Here is a bit of the lineage from
the female side of the tree. Most or all of the children of group 11 Abel
were supposedly and probably born in North Carolina.
daughter: Nancy married Henry Johnson on May 12, 1794 in Oglethorpe County,
GA. The only child I know of is Thomas W. Johnson and that is where this
branch starts and ends.
daughter: Sarah "Sally" married Joseph A. Wilson on July 4 or 5, 1798 in
Oglethorpe County, GA. The children and lives of this branch are very well
documented but parents for Joseph are not proven.
daughter: Elizabeth "Betsey" married Henry Ramsey abt. 1806 and Adam Poole
abt. 1809 in GA. Henry died bef. Mar 1815 leaving one child. Betsey and
Adam both died before 1819 leaving several children some of whom are well
documented. The Pooles are buried in Tuscaloosa AL.
daughter: Mary E. "Polly" married Eleazer Lovejoy.
daughter: Rebekah married John Smith on Sept. 23, 1812 in Jasper County,
GA. She is buried in Williamson Cemetery in Northport, Tuscaloosa County,
Alabama.
sons: Abel, Jr.; Isaac; Samuel; William; John L. all had children but
surnames for wives are unknown. William is the most confusing of the two
and one where I believe many mistakes have occurred. His name was input as
William Thomas but I am no longer convinced of this. There is still much
more work to do.
As always, let me know what you think.

The Smith family that is connected to our Group 28 Penningtons had a Johnson
connection in that same Yadkin/New River area of North Carolina. A William
and Mary [Parks] Johnson and their daughter, Wynnea [Winnie]. Another
collateral family connected to them was Fyffe. Do any of these names sound
familiar?
