Gary:

Wow! You have given me a gold mine of information. And after looking
over my notes and reading your stuff I realize now that James Gideon
"Jim" Prather was my gr.grandfather, (his gravestone lists his birth as
1870 rather than 1873..) and Warren Webb was my gr. gr. grandfather.
James Gideon's wife's name was Callie.

Unfortuntely, I don't have much information on my line other than
my grandfather's (Arthur) offspring. I haven't done any serious
geneological research so a lot of my info is anecdotal. Arthur had two
brothers Ralph and I believe Clifford (1899-1923.)
Arthur worked at the Tate Marble Co. at Marble Hill Ga., he also was
a carpenter. He married Velvarada Fields(3/23/99--5/29/92) from Pickens
Co. He moved his family to Louisville Tenn. sometime in the
1920's to work at a quarry there. Later he worked for ALCOA at Alcoa
Tenn. He had four children Hoyt, Genita, Charles, Katherine. They are
all deceased. My father was Charles (12/11/28--2/7/73). I can give you
names of all my 1st cousins if you'd like.

I moved to San Marcos from Atlanta year and a half ago to attend
graduate
school in applied geography at SWT. The springs and river here are
great--I'm going canoeing today in fact. I grew up in Maryville, TN.
(the
boyhood home of Sam Houston). I love Texas and am very glad to find out
I
have relatives here...(now I know the Prathers can't be accused of being
carpet baggers). Thanks so much for the info, especially since now
I know my connection back to 1622!! I would be happy to give you any
other info I know of.
