Subject: [PRATHER-L] Problems at Rootsweb

You may have noticed that your Rootsweb lists have been kind of slow this
week. Seems El Nino is playing havoc with the weather on the West Coast, in
much the same way that the Nor'easter is messing with us here in the Ohio
Valley and on the East Coast. While the Eastern Seaboard and the Southeast
are being deluged with rain, the Ohio Valley is pretty much snowed in (and
it's still snowing) and the mountains on the West Coast (where Rootsweb's
servers are located) is also snow-bound.

The latest word leaking out from Rootsweb is that the system is still
operational, despite the fact that they are suffering repeated power
outages. The good folks at Rootsweb were able to acquire power generators
and are using them to provide alternate power sources to keep the Rootsweb
mail moving, although sometimes sporadically.

This situation won't last forever and your Rootsweb mail should soon return
to normal.
