Cousins,
I've just had a rather unusual thought -- has anyone researched any
strange genetic faults that seem to run in the family? I'm thinking of
things like color blindness which is very rampant in my part of the
family. All of the men in my father's family (him plus three brothers)
suffer from red/green color blindness, and my sister and I have three
sons between us, all of whom suffer from this genetic predisposition.
In case you don't know about this, men usually suffer from it, but it is
the women who are carriers of the gene.
Another point of discussion between a first cousin and I has been her
belief that there was Indian blood somewhere in our background because
of something pertaining to her and a brother's teeth. This is something
I have never heard of before and she hasn't explained it in great
detail, but today an aunt informed me that our g.g.g. grandmother
married an Indian chief (as I mentioned in an earlier note).
While all of the strange family "quirks" cannot be dealt with, it might
be a good idea for all of us to consider going on line with any serious
medical problems that could be helped by knowing some other family
medical history -- i.e., for matches if a need is great for a blood or
organ donor, etc. In other words, if someone felt yelling "help" might
be of benefit, then go on line with the info. but not for smaller
medical problems or we would get too far astray from the purpose of this
web. Just some rambling thoughts. Carole Prater Gray
