I have some Preble resources and my own genealogy from Abraham at
http://www.olywa.net/PrebleLaw/gen/. I would particularly direct your attention to
the book by George Henry Preble, the data from which is on Peter Preble's site.
It looks like your Richard was the cousin to Abraham the immigrant, but Richard
stayed in England. It appears to me that those who descended from Abraham spell the
name with 1 "b" but those who remained in England or went to Australia spell with
two "b"s. The original coat of arms has two "b"s.
