Alfred Harry Preble (1852-1919) m. Lucy Mary Austin + 1 descends in the Abraham Preble (1641-1714) branch of the family wheras Jedidiah Preble (1707-1784) descends in the Benjamin (b. 1733) branch of the family.
Brig Jedidiah Preble had 12 children; 5 by his 1st wife Martha Junkins (which included a John) and 7 by his 2d wife Mehitable (Bangs) Roberts. The 7 children by his 2d wife are:
