Hi,
There has been some recent activity on the list about the ZÜHLKE
surname. I too have ZÜHLKE's as ancestors and thanks to Juergen
Fritsche and Karen Whitmer I was able to locate the home village of
Beelitz, Kr. Pyrtiz, Pommern. This town is now Bielice, Poland. If
any of the other list members can or have made connections with this
line of ZÜHLKE's I would like to hear from you. Some names and birth
dates are as follows.
Friedrich ZÜHLKE Abt. 1800-1815
Maria ZÜHLKE 25 Oct 1837
Friedrich ZÜHLKE 28 Jan 1940
Daniel ZÜHLKE 10 Apr 1842
Friedrich W. ZÜHLKE 02 Oct 1844
Christine ZÜHLKE 10 Aug 1847
Friedrich W. ZÜHLKE 15 Jan 1850
All were born and christened in Beelitz. I am also researching the
SCHRÖDER family from the villages of Wartenburg and Babbin, both are
only 3 to 6 km from Beelitz. Daniel SCHRÖDER had a son Christian
Friedrich on 30 Sep 1835. Christian married Maria ZÜHLKE in 1857 in
Beeltiz and had 8 children there before moving west across the Oder
River to Damitzow, Kr. Randow, Pommern, where they had several more
children. They and several children emigrated to the US in the early
1890's, settleing in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
One other thing I am still looking for is information on how to
determine the birth place of someone born in 1914 in Pommern. Herbert
IHLEFELD was born in a village Pinnow or Gross Pinnow. There are
several villages with that name in Pommern. My ancestors were from a
Pinnow close to Hohenselchow in Kr. Randow. I believe Herbert was
from there also but I would like documentation. He was a member of
the German military in WW II if that helps any. Are there military
archives or websites that would be of help here? Thanks for any
information.
