Jerry and others,

You will find German newspapers in worldcat.org. Worldcat holds records for
all kinds of library materials from participating libraries worldwide.

To start, search for *German American newspapers Illinois*.
>From the results page, select a title to find out which libraries have it.
Then select a library to see more detailed information about the newspaper.

Another way which will retrieve better results (fewer hits, that are more
relevant) is to use the subject heading:
*su:German Americans Illinois Newspapers*
Copy and paste the bold text above (including the *su:*) into the search
line. If you are looking for another state, just change the name of the
state.

Two more ways to narrow your results more in order to get results that are
more relevant :

1. Look at the options in the left-hand column of the results page and
make selections as you see fit.
2. Replace the name of the state with the name of the city of interest.

Because newsprint yellows quickly and becomes brittle with age, old issues
are preserved on microform, which can be viewed on microform readers in the
library. The machines also make copies. There is usually a per-page charge
for copies.

Library staff are always ready to help you, just ask!

Kind regards,

Ella Melik
