Many native American children were taken from their families
and sent off to schools for their "betterment" ... to teach
them new ways, customs, language. Post your grandmother's
maiden name and maybe someone on the list will recognize the
family name and be able to help you.
In my particular area (West Puget Sound) we have Suquamish,
S'klallam, Makah, Skokomish, Squaxin.
