I am hoping someone can help me find this family. My great great grandmother Rafaela Hernandez was b. abt 1881 (I'm told in the Canary Islands??) and came to PR when she was between 2 and 4 years of age. Apparently her father had been murdered, not sure if in the Islands or after they arrived in PR.

All I know is that they had a lot of property in Aguadilla, a wonderful estate and supposedly Rafaela received it after her parents death. I don't know their names or anything else about them.

She married Jose Quinones b. abt 1877 in PR. I did find Jose and Rafael in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 census reports, but cannot seem to find either one of them on anything prior to 1910.

Can someone please help me. I'm told Jose & Rafael moved to NJ or NY in the 1940's and died there. They had 13 children and I don't know how many, or which ones may have followed them... or even how they would have got there.

I don't know how to look for ship reports to find RAfaela. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
